Isaiah 60:1 – “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me… to bind up the broken-hearted…”
Iraq, located in the heart of the Middle East, is home to about 44–45 million people. Known as part of ancient Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilization, the nation has endured decades of conflict, displacement, and ongoing environmental challenges. The dominant religion is Islam, with the majority being Shia and Sunni Muslims, alongside a small but historic Christian minority and other religious communities. Despite hardships, there is a quiet yet resilient body ofbelievers, including many from Muslim backgrounds, growing in faith and courage.
Prayer Focus:
- Pray for bold and Spirit-filled church leaders who will disciple Muslim-background believers and youth, grounding them deeply in God’s Word and strengthening them to stand firm in faith.
- Lift up internally displaced peoples, asking God to open doors for resettlement, restoration, and sustainable economic opportunities that bring dignity and stability.
- Pray that Iraqis will encounter true hope in Christ amid environmental and societal challenges, experiencing His peace, healing, and renewal. May the Lord restore Iraq and reveal His glory through a growing, faithful Church.
